TEAM OF THE WEEK - MARCH 31ST

APL Team of Week March 31 SMALL

Game 1: Ukraine 7:4 Caribbean Stars

It rarely happens that the first game of the day ends up being the most exciting one, but this time it was the case. Nobody expected Ukrainians to kick off the game with 4 quick goals in the first two periods. Caribbean Stars looked shocked, desperately trying to get back in the battle.  We saw a very strong character and willingness to fight till the end from the Carribean side as they almost managed to tie the game in the third period. However, what a day it was for a Ukrainian player – Bogdan Poliakov. The striker scored a hat-trick, securing 3 points for Ukrainians.

Game 2: Italy 6:9 Croatia

If you are a fan of a fast, creative and technical soccer, you should have watched this match! It made us all stunned for that 60 minutes, not giving a chance to look away for a second. It seemed that Croatian side underestimated Italians in this game. For every Croatian goal,  Italy responded with their own up until the 4 th period of the game when Italians seemed to get tired and lacked speed in their counter attacks.

Game 3: Portugal 4:2 South America

This game gifted us with arguably the best Portugal AC’s performance in this Arena Premiere League’s season so far. Portuguese seemed to have a game plan that they strictly followed up until the very end of the game. We could see some fantastic defence work from both sides in this game, but Portuguese goalkeeper, Edson Lopes, stood out the most as he made two crucial saves in the end of the match to give Portugal a difficult, but a well-deserved win.

week 4 ser ital

Serbia AC evened their record at 2 and 2 on Saturday with an explosive 7-4 win over Italy AC. Lead by Radenko Kamberovic who found the back of the net 3 times on route to a convincing victory over Italy AC who is still in search of their first APL win of the season. Italy AC has been in every match despite falling short on the scoreboard

week 4 port car

Caribbean Stars AC have quickly become a fan favourite and did not disappoint as they took on the tough Portugal AC squad as they scored two goals in the 4th quarter to edge Portugal 4-2.

week 4 croa sa

In a match of the last two undefeated teams left in the APL, Croatia AC took on South America AC who was coming off a bye week. In what was another exciting game, the South American squad was not able to keep up with the high scoring Croatia AC team and fell  5-3 in yet another tight game showing the great parity around the Arena League

UKRAINE PROTUGAL

In one of two close scoring affairs in the APL this past week, Portugal AC and Ukraine AC kicked off the opener exchanging goals in a 4-4 draw. A solid all around effort by both teams was seen in the fact that all 8 goals were scored by different players in this well balanced back and forth affair. Both Ukraine AC's Stanislav Katana and Portugal AC's David Velasteugi earned spots on the Team of Week for their stellar play.

ITALY CARIBBEAN

The Fans at Canlan Sportsplex were entertained with a typical Arena Soccer shootout during the middle game  of APL Action this past week. The Caribbean Stars AC, fresh off a bye week scored early and often on route to a 10-5 victory over Italy AC. Stars AC Defenders Jesse Oliver and Tristan Gayle lead the way both adding hat tricks to the cause and Alex Eby and Thomas Cisco added two a piece to round out the double digit outing. Italy fought back on several occasions lead by Anthony Osorio's pair and singles from Claudio Serano, Diego Gonzalez and Andrew Gaio.

CROATIA SERBIA

The undefeated Croatia AC squad took to the turf on Saturday afternoon putting their undefeated streak on the line against a worthy opponent in Serbia AC.  Croatia AC's Luis Rocha came to play and put on a stellar display of offence in netting all three Croatian goals as the edged Serbia AC 3-2 in what is rapidly becoming a typical Arena Soccer stay to the finish APL battle. Serbian Keeper Nemanja Radenkovic was named to the APL team of the week as was Croatia AC's Luis Rocha as his team remained undefeated atop the APL Standings.

TOW WEEK 3
TEAM OF WEEK APL 2
SOUTH SCORE 9-4

Italy AC had their debut game in the Arena Premiere League against South America AC. It was definitely not meant to be a good start for Italians as they conceded a quick goal that meshed with their game plan, making them to play faster on the ball and more aggressive. However, South Americans were deadly on counter attacks, using every defensive mistake by a poorly organized Italian side. As a result – 9:4 in favor of South America, but Italy stays hopeful to get their first points next week.

The APL Season kicked off on Sunday with Portugal AC taking on Serbia AC at Canlan Sportsplex.  A Close fought match ended in a narrow 2-0 margin in favour of Portugal AC.

SCORE 5-2 CROATIA

Croatia AC and Portugal AC met on a Sunday afternoon to determine possibly the best team in the league. After winning the first games, both team came in confident, pressing high and trying to cause mistakes by the opposition. This was not just a game between Croatians and Portuguese, it was a battle of different play styles. Strength and organised play beat technique and speed as Croatians managed to pull out a 5:2 victory in the end.

If you wanted to know whats unique about Arena Soccer, it didnt take long as the second game of the opening season showed lots of goal scoring and fireworks as Croatia AC out gunned Caribbean Stars AC in an exciting 7-6 victory

SERB SCORE3-2

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you like watching dramatic and eventful soccer games, then this was it! There are no better sides to watch if you just decided to follow arena soccer. Ukraine and Serbia managed to put up a good show with many goals and interesting player battles on the pitch. One of them was between a Ukrainian defender – Arvin Nesarhosseini and a Serbian midfielder – Radenko Kamberovic. Both players made it to an APL Team of the Week. However, things finished a little more positive for a Serbian side as they won the game 3:2.

uk sa

The South America AC squad was a little too much for Ukraine AC on the day as a group of experienced players and youthful stars took control from the get go throughout much of the match. All three games attested to the fact that there will be some exciting games ahead on route to the APL Championship
